How long should tennis shoes last

Got a new pair of Hokas in late June 2023 and they are complete trash now. Wore all the tread off the bottom.
I know there are a lot of different factors that go into the life of sneakers and I’m very active but I also rotate a couple pairs. So these don’t get worn every day
But dang these Hokas wore out fast IMO. For roughly $160. sneakers I thought they would last a bit longer.
I feel like nothing is made as good as it used be.
As a general rule of thumb, shoes should be replaced every 8-12 months for most people or every 500-700 kilometres for running shoes. Some shoes will last longer, and some will wear out more quickly.
I guess it’s been about 8 months. Dang time flies.
Tennis Shoes Prices are outrageous these days.
Along with everything else.
Sucks

Holy shite dude, WTF are you doing in those shoes?? I have several pair of Hokas that I've had well over a year and my tread is still pretty new looking.

I've got a few pairs of Nano's and the inside of the heel is busted in all of them. If I don't pay attention they will cause a blister. Nothing else is wrong. Barely worn, nothing else busted. I bought a air that has elements of the nano x2 and another shoe for $65, half the price on my Nano x3's and no issues, or inside heel problems.

Wear is very dependent on what you do in them. If you have a pair that you only were out on the town they will last well over a year. If you have a pair that is used to play tennis one or twice a week or a pair that you go wade fishing in they will not last nearly as long.
So yeah, what did you wear those shoes for? sports or something else?

Looks like he was dragging his feet across rough gravel or busted concrete. I've never had a pair of running shoes (not tennis shoes) look like that, even when I was running 3-4 times a week.

You should be able to get 300miles out of any pair of running shoes

I’m not doing anything out of the ordinary in these shoes. Unless you call walking over 10,000 steps daily in them on concrete. Like I said also I don’t wear these every day either. I have a couple pair I go between.
I just think these ended up being a piece of crap.
They still look fairly new on top too for white running shoes.
I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing Hokas

I’ve had my hokas for like 2 years and look brand new. Prob bc I ran in them once and worn only at my trip to Disney world.

Hoka isn’t known for durability, FYI.

Looks like your puppy got a hold of them.

My experience is completely different than this thread. Third pair of Clifton 8s and all have looked perfect even while my feet started telling me I needed new shoes (500 miles roughly / 6 months).
I am a brand loyalist and have worn ON (trash), ASICS, Nike (trash) over the last few years. Don’t like the looks of Brooks can’t speak to those
