My favorite Patagonia Strider Pro shorts are worn out. They decided to discontinue the boxer brief liners in favor of the regular briefs. Boxer brief liners are really important to me for backpacking.

Anyone have any favorite shorts that meet the following?

Boxer brief liners

Side pockets. Preferably external pockets to hold a phone or wallet. By external I mean that there are no “holsters” inside the shorts.

Really lightweight and quick drying

Ten Thousand tactical line. Best shorts ever made.

Vuori won’t be the lightest, but they’re the best. Lightweight and boxer brief liner don’t usually go hand in hand.

they look like great shorts. just a bit heavier than what im looking for. I suppose running shorts with boxer brief liners is what I want. I got a pair of Brooks a while back and those things show my plumbers crack at every opportunity. Such a pain to find exactly what youre looking for

I have a pair of New Balance 2in1 shorts that I like. They are 7” inseam but fit more like 6”, relatively light, but pretty basic - just two side pockets and that’s it. Edit: it’s the Fortitech 2in1, on sale for $25 right now.

You could check out Path Projects, not a built in liner short but they have boxer briefs for specific uses made to go with their own shorts. Usually get good reviews.

Do you like them? I like to have zipper pockets on both sides, which narrows the options for me.

So far I prefer the rogue to the bird dogs, but the ten thousands have been on my radar. Please let us know what you think.

Unless you got tiny hands, Vuori is out. Lulu is the best. #comeatme Vuori fangirls.

Fabletics feels like hot garbage.

I want to try Ten Thousand and Rhone.

I'm a 7" unlined Pacebreaker devotee - I liked the lined version from several years ago, not as much now. I also like Vuori both Banks and Kore, but purely for gym, if I could only have one would go with LL Pacebreaker.

I have Rhone Commuter and Resort casual shorts, but didn't love their gym models.

I like unlined as well since i find the ex officio sport mesh 9” briefs to be the absolute GOAT underwear, especially for exercising.
