I haven't for sciatica but when I was a trainer we used it to speed up healing on strains. The heat reduces inflammation and promotes blood flow/healing.

It certainly won't hurt to try it.

Depends on the cause.. If it’s a compressed nerve at the disk level, probably won’t work, but if it’s from muscle compression, the yep….
