What is the correct term/name for the cigarette lighter

in cars that people use to charge their phones and such?

Something or another about AC DC?

a lot of cars now don't actually have the cigarette lighter thing, they just have the 12 volt receptacle where you can plug in a cell phone charger or laptop charger and I believe they refer to it as a....12volt receptacle.
