It starts, but the cranks sound like it's struggling. I had the battery tested (3 years old), it tested good. No corrosion on the battery terminals. I assume it could be the starter, anything else easy to check?

ETA 2020

Put the charger on it and try to crank it. See if it spins quicker.

Try using some jumper cables and see if it cranks over like it used to. If yes it's either the battery or the alternator not charging the battery.

It's off and on, but I don't think it ever turned over fast. Sometimes that first turnover is just a chore, but then it goes.

Sounds like battery. They don’t last like they use to.

You’re lucky it gave you warming and didn’t just leave you stranded

I would start here...especially if it's the OEM battery (202??). Just because they test good at AutoZone doesn't mean they are good.

Is it worse when it's warmed up and hot as hell outside?

Get diagnosed. Don’t guess.

What needs to be determined….

True health of the battery and it’s connections all the way to the starter.
Cranking amps at every step.

Your post title said 202 Yukon. It would be helpful to know what year because those earlly side post batteries were famous for intermittent connection problems and internal problems that were also hard to diagnose.

2020 (updated). Not the OEM battery, that one didn't last 3 years. I didn't go cheap on the replacement. I had it tested last weekend at Advance Auto, came out good.

That is surprising. The majority of the time with these symptoms it is the battery. Starters rarely give you any warning.

I do the Optima battery. It’s over $200 but I’ve had issues in the past with my JEEP.

Also, get a BlueDriver.

Mine (2018 eco) did that last year and load tested good one day and dead the next, it jumped and I drove it home. Started the next morning but dead when I got back in it. Your battery is about to shite the bed.

Well, we carry a jump starter just in case. Damn battery isn't 2 years old, so it'll have some warranty.

Our battery died while on vacation across the country. What do people do to prevent this, just buy a new one every 3 years as a preventative?

The original battery for this one died while we were on vacation. I brought the jump starter because I felt it coming, and after having to use it twice I spent an hour outside of Asheville putting in a new battery one morning. Jump starters aren't expensive, keep one charged and with you.

Don't sleep on these small rechargeable ones from amazon. My V10's batter was graveyard dead and i had to get to sports team practice. My neighbor brought one over and i laughed out loud when he handed it to me. bruh, sure enough that little thing cranked my excursion like it was the first start off the show room floor! I bought two chargers before we got to practice! And you can recharge them in your car via usb. It essentially never leaves your car.

I'm sold on the NOCOs. I have a 1000 and a 3000. That 3000 can start my diesel 3/4 ton even if it's as dead as a doornail.

I called AAA out to the house to jump it because I didn't have the 3000 at the time. This stupid arse company came out with some small HF model. I said man, you're wasting your time. I told AAA it was a diesel with two batteries and you come out here with this bullshite.

He frogged around and of course it wouldn't start. I said forget about it, ordered the NOCO 3000 and started it no problem.

Dual batteries

Otherwise maintain your shite, keep corrosion from forming in cables/battery posts, clean connections peipdically, check alternator, etc.

Late edit- to include ground wires, too.

Crawl under the truck and check the connection where the battery cable attaches to the block/starter. I've seen many of those get loose and cause the problem you're having.
