We’ve been having a hell of a lot of rain and noticed today that there’s ants crawling out of canned lights in a couple of areas of the house.
They seem to be fire ants like the ants in yard piles but I’m not sure. Any advice on treatments?

Can you pop the housing out and put some type of ant killer up in the space behind it?

Eta also you might consider an led replacement housing insert that is sealed instead of a lightbulb

You need to go in attic and trail back to where they are coming in and spray ant killer.

Are they more black then red? If so, they could be sugar ants. If that is them, you going to need a pro to kill them off. Reason, if you find were they come in and spray, there is about a 100% chance you will split the hive. Those ants are the worse to get rid off. They can infest a house real bad.

Look for the ant trail on the exterior walls and spray

I can’t find a trail anywhere.

Do you think there’s a nest in attic somewhere or they make their way back to yard?

Do you have any trees close to your house that might have low-hanging branches touching the roof? They could be getting onto the roof that way, then finding their way into the attic.

Go in attic. Put Terro ant bait near the can lights. They will eat it and go home and kill everyone. Identify the source of moisture in attic that has then there in the first place.

Bengal roach spray. It is a gas so it gets in all the hard to reach spots. Kills ants within 4 minutes. Get in attic and let loose the bengal.

This is correct, spraying doesn't kill the colony. Treat with bait.

We had some little black ants in our bathroom and while back and couldn’t figure out where they were coming from. I got in the attic and used a mist tip on my sprayer to cover all the area above the bathroom. That was probably a year ago and haven’t seen an ant since.
