Anyone ever laid a versailles pattern on interior slate tile?

I'm wondering how difficulty it is to install, and if you've been happy with it afterwards.

I had to look that up, seems like it would look pretty good in a large enough room. I'm not sure how a smaller room would look, though.

It does cost more, takes more time to lay.

Our tile is laid in a versailles pattern and I like the look a lot. Can't speak to the difficulty of it as I didn't lay it myself, but it definitely takes a lot more work than normal patterns, so I would assume it costs more.

Not to be smartaleck but if you have to ask…
Slate is tough enough on a straight lay with all the irregularities and different thicknesses. I’ve seen many of them that are 1/4” thick on one edge and more than 1/2” on the other. You will need to sort through all the tiles and set aside the worst offenders and only use them if you have to. A box screed is your friend when setting slate. Better to choose a porcelain tile that looks like slate.
Versailles pattern ? Can be quite challenging/ frustrating for an inexperienced setter.
Hope this helps.
