Asphalt driveway cost

I have a section of driveway that is gravel and washed out with a good rain. Had a guy quote me 15k for 360 foot of driveway, that included digging a ditch on one side (about 75 feet) so water wouldn't drain down the road. Bringing in chert for base, and then gravel.
Am I out of line thinking I could get the damn thing paved for less than that?
Really thinking of renting the equipment and doing it myself otherwise. I was expecting less than 5k not 15k.

How wide?
You do realize 360 feet is a long driveway.

Who quoted you that? I need their number. That seems cheap.

Asphalt per ton on larger jobs is going for around $170 per ton. At 360' x 10' x 2" thick you are 46 tons, which is a small job. So call it $200/ton puts you at $9200 for the asphalt laying alone. Add in the rest of the items and it's fairly reasonable.

The quote wasn't to pave it with asphalt, the quote was for a gravel driveway.

Sorry, misread the paving part. Carry on.
Don't have many jobs with aggregate so don't know current prices. I know it was high during drought due to fact that shipping down the river was a problem. Maybe that has gotten better with a normal river.

I misread, too.
With the thread title of "asphalt driveway cist" I assumed the 15k quote was for the asphalt.
