What thickness plywood are you comfortable with as an attic decking? This is a current house, not new or under renovation and will be taking it up the attic access in 2ft wide strips. I'm not sure about OSB but open to thoughts. I think there's some 1/2" up there now.

1/2 in is fine. Go 3/4 if you want a little more reassurance, but I've had half inch in mine for years, and walk around on it at 185 lbs.

1/2" OSB is what I screwed down in mine 18 years ago. Works great.

5/8” minimum, 3/4” is best.

Especially if you’ll be ripping or installing in smaller 24” wide sections.

I've had no issues with 15/32" and will put the same in my next house.

Regarding OSB - if you think you'll be going in your attic barefoot I'd recommend against it. Sounds silly but I use my attic a lot and hate putting on shoes every time.

I plan to do some of this myself tomorrow. I plan to use 1-6 tongue and groove slats to nail across the rafters. Basically I will be building catwalks and decking one board at a time (like an outdoor deck).

I'd look into fortified roofing and standards if I were you. Extra layer of protection and you get a decent discount on your homeowners. It's a process though.
