Best shade tolerant plant for year around privacy fence

I have a ~10ft section of my backyard that needs foliage for privacy year around. There is not much sun on this side of the house, maybe a couple hours per day. Looking for something that grows fast and can be hedged to keep below 6ft tall
ETA- located in Madisonville so fairly heat tolerant and can handle freezing temp in winter

Dwarf bamboo's fits your requirements. Some might even grow to a height you like where you don't need to bother topping them.

I don’t mind hedging, I have a bunch of boxwoods that I top every 3 or so months. I could maybe let something get to 8ft instead of 6ft. Just wouldn’t want something higher than my ladder could handle

Taller than what you’re looking for probably but I’ve been very happy with my clumping bamboo.
I believe the bamboo nursery in fulsom is still around. That guy was growing tons of varieties

cast iron plant is a classic shade foliage choice

Is there a fence? If so, star jasmine creates a nice visual block.

I’d like to say Pride of Mobile azaleas for the beautiful showing of flowers about a month or so ago, but I never see them in nurseries anymore.
Tall, wide, sun or shade.

It's hard to beat azaleas. Low maintenance, looks great, enjoys the shade, can easily keep it around 6ft, will be nice and full to create some privacy, and its a native plant.

Dwarf Burford Holly will get 10' tall but is easy to keep at 4-6' tall. It's a super tough plant that can take full sun or full shade
Japanese yew is another option.
Dwarf Palmetto if you want a tropical look

quote:I did some research and these seem like a solid choice. How fast do they grow? I can't seem to find a ft or in per year growth rate. Ideally I'd want something that will have good coverage after a couple years

They grow fast but I don't know ft per year data. They will have good coverage in 2 years.
