Eventually your property will have to be bulldozed to get rid of the crepe Myrtle.
My maternal grandmother planted a whole bunch of them way back when now 86 years old mom was 10 or younger. They are all over the place now and so firmly rooted they are hurricane and seasonal weather proof (75+ years of drought and freeze has only strengthened them).
The crazy things bloom all year round now too. But it will literally take bulldozing an entire house lot to get rid of them.

As long as it’s no where near the house or concrete, have at it.
There isn’t a tree or plant I hate more than crepe myrtles. Those bitches are constantly dropping shite. Constantly.

THIS!
I have 3 very old ones at the edge of my patio. If they weren't so old and beautiful, I'd plow them down. The trunks are single trunks and almost 3' in diameter and they're at least 60 feet tall.
They're a complete pain in the butt though. My kids call them "crap myrtles"
I'm assuming they were here before the house was built since the only ones I've seen larger have been at plantation homes along the river.
They're still not as large as the state record one in Shreveport:

Don't do it. My neighbor grew up in the house next door, and moved back into it when his parents were older and in assisted living. He said his mom just loved to randomly plant stuff out in the yard. There were 4 Crepe Myrtles next to the road, and some other random bushes and flower plants. None of them in any sort of bed, just right there in the middle of the grass. One of the first things he did when he moved back in was to dig them all up and get a nice clean front yard of just grass again, and rework the beds near the house.

jeez that's a monster!
We bought our house 10 years ago and had over 30 crepe myrtles scattered about. 12 of them had to be at least 30 years old. I've cut down about 10 of them. I dont mind the ones i have lining the edge of my backyard next to the fence as they provide a good safety net for baseballs and soccer balls from going over the fence.
But the giant one I have in my courtyard is a gigantic pain in the arse. I blow off my courtyard daily, sometimes mutliple times a day. If i don't, the drain gets clogged and the whole courtyard will fill up with 3" of water when it rains and get right up to our back door before starting to drain off the side of the house. And just a nightmare on the gutters, even with the mesh gutter gaurds.

What’s everyone’s problem with crepe Myrtles on here?
They’re the best summer color we can get in Texas. I have a 25 footer close to the pool and it is the least of my worries. I also have a couple dozen ornamental pears and a couple large Chinese ligustrums though plus a bunch of wax Myrtles and yaupon hollies. Guess I like problem plants.

They have tiny yards and live in subdivisions.

The driveway to my woodshop is lined with them. 18-25 ft high and gorgeous
I did kind of hope one person familiar with rooting cuttings would chime in.

SUCKERS and they dump trash.
They are near impossible to get rid of once established.
If you don't get up every single piece of root they will regrow.

6-8” semi-hard cuttings during growing season. That means you better hurry up and do it.
I propagated a couple dozen wax myrtles this time of year a few years back but I did them in trays indoor in window then pots in greenhouse. Prob 30-50% success. I’ll be moving another half dozen or so from a subsequent round into 3 gallon pots this week and hopefully plant in a year when they’re 3-4’ tall.

Thanks, I want to make about 4-6 of them for the back property line.
