Best Wireless Fence For Large Dog

A stray showed up to my property a few months back. Wife and kids fell in love and has been feeding it ever since. Good dog, barks when cars come down the drive. Some type of Husky/German Sheppard mix. Large dog. Neighbor showed up today informing me that he’s been killing his chickens (he’s right, been seeing feathers in the field) and that I needed to handle it or he’d have to. Any ideas? I don’t want to chain him up but he can’t keep roaming free either. I’ve heard mixed reviews on wireless fences. We have 26 acres. Any affordable gps collars out there? Don’t want to break the bank but also would like to keep from having to tell my kids the dog isn’t going to be around anymore.

I have PetSafe Stay&Play Wireless Fence for Stubborn Dogs for my current dog-female Redbone Coonhound.Raised her in the house and walked her around on a leash to teach her the boundaries. It has worked great for her,if I forget to put it on in the morning she still stays in her boundaries.
I had another dog, female Lab mix and I had the in-ground wire system, didn’t work so well. When she wanted to leave the yard she would take off running, hunch up and take the shock. When she came back she would sit outside the yard and wait for me to come take off the collar before she would come back in.
I think it depends on the dog.
You would definitely have to keep him in a pen or on a chain and walk him around on a leash to try and train him to his boundaries. Can’t just put the collar on him and turn him loose.

25 acres here, and i opted for remote shock collars instead of burying thousands of yards of wire. They both come with a similar weakness, charging the collar

We used Dog Guard of Louisiana, have a Doberman and an English Mastiff on 5 acres, they'll chase deer, squirrels, rabbits, etc. right up to the fence and pump the brakes, works great.

We use tractive on 20 acres. It doesn't shock them but I can track them and beep the collar, they come home. After a while they learn where they can go.
We tried the halo gps shock collar, was not a fan. My GSP would haul arse through the boundary before it could even shock him. It was much more expensive too, and a lot less durable.

We use Halo for our dogs on 3 acres. Our mutt has learned the boundaries and stay within it as long as she has the collar on even if it is dead. We use another one for our standard poodles and they are still learning, but it works for us. They are pricey though.

Once a dog has started killing chickens, it is pretty hard to break them of that habit.

Have had great success with Halo. Dog was shock collar trained prior to using it, but he's never left the property since it's been on. Doesn't even have the prongs to shock him anymore, he knows to back up when it starts beeping.
