Bosch Benchmark 900 or 800 dishwasher?

In week 13 of our full remodel. I let my wife decide on the kitchen (probably a big mistake).
She is trying to decide on either a Bosch 800 or Bosch Benchmark 900. Any suggestions? As far as I can tell, something about a slide rack and a water softener.
Also, she's looking at a Vent-A-Hood vent.
So far she's picked a Wolf Transitional Induction range/oven. My wife can cook extremely well, but damn this kitchen is high as giraffe pussy.

the 900 is 12.5% better than the 800

The water softner will usually prevent that white build up on the inside of the dishwasher that is common.

I have the 800 and it’s awesome so far

Thanks. Unbeknownst to me, she ordered the Benchmark.
I asked her if there's something wrong with her hands. They should be able to wash dishes just fine.

I haven’t had a dishwasher in 20 years. Just 2 of us though most of the time. When we redo the kitchen this year I’m doing a big deep pot sink next to the regular double sink

well my wife cooks every night and I clean the dishes so the dishwasher is really useful to me

1. Where are these wives that can cook? Mine does dishes ok but can barely heat up Trader Joe’s.
2. All these new dishwashers are the same. They are super quiet which is amazing but they take several hours to do their thing.

We got the benchmark 900 a year ago. Only difference I think was the water softener and the ball bearings in the racks. It's a nice dishwasher and you barely notice it's running

One thing I like about Bosch that is rarely talked about.
How cheap and easy they are to fix.
Bosch drain pumps can be found starting at the $35 mark. Maybe $60 at most. Half the price of Whirlpool (kitchen aid) and Frigidaire.
After remove toe plate and panel you need no tools to change the pump (a wet dry vac or some towels are needed) . The Door switch is also pretty cheap.
The most expensive part that fails is the circulation motor and heater. Usually the heater part fails.
That's about $150. Way less than a Frigidaire circulation motor.
Bosch are very quiet and clean well if you use jet dry.
As far as dw longevity they are the best.
Avoid Miela and Midea because parts are very hard to get.

love our 900. observations 3 months in:
- the little home connect app is actually more awesome than you realize; it lets us know when the dishwasher is done, when its out of rinse-aid and when we need to add salt (we don't need to..we have a whole-home softening system already)
- it came with a little litmus strip to test your water and set your descaling interval correctly
- super quiet
- the utensil rack is nice, but i dont use it that much; i prefer to put them in the old-school basket next to the washing arm so they get scrubbed. being on the top rack sometimes left debris on them.
- like napoleon said, works very well with rinse aid; just budget for that.
- phone app tells me when its time to clean the dishwasher (CLEAN?
thats a new one for me at 58 years old) and it came with a couple of things to use for that. if i had known to do this years ago, that would have probably helped avoid that 'fishy dishwasher' smell all my dishwasher eventually get.
- only visual evidence its running is a little red dot it projects onto the floor
- super duper quiet
- you can do weird things like adjust a rack at an angle so one you can get wine glasses on the middle rack but still put cookie sheets on the bottom as that side of the rack is still high enough for clearance.
i have no complaints so far. i've had a base model bosch in the past and i will say it does feel more like 'extra bells and whistles' for the most part as the base model bosch was 95% as good, but you know..might as well get the extras if you're buying new.
so, yep..great appliance. very satisifed so far and i actually plan to maintain this one
as opposed to pretending it doesn't exist unless i'm putting dishes in.
