Can I put triple 13 or triple 10 fertilizer in my yard?

Have had several bags at our hunting camp for years and want to get rid of it. I have zoysia. Will it hurt anything to just spread in my yard at home?

That's the only fertilizer I use other than 33-0-0.

That’s an awful lot of phosphorus to be applying to a lawn turf, unless your soil is highly deficient in P. I wouldn’t use a quick release general purpose fertilizer like 13-13-13 on the lawn, but I’d use it in the vegetable garden, and landscape beds (trees and shrubs) - surely you have some vegetable garden friends that could take some off your hands.

If your lawn is like mine (poor), what can it hurt?

I would only put that on my lawn if I had a soil test that showed I was extremely deficient in P

What would be recommended then?

I’d say once you would be just fine. Anymore than that might hurt you though.
I used to start each spring with a triple 13 does to the lawn then just push with nitrogen after that.

Get your soil tested to see if there are any deficiencies. One time app probably won’t hurt too much tho.

I’ve used triple 13 when I couldn’t find triple 8. Used it at a lighter rate with success.

I do it every year. I apply 13-13-13 at a rate of 7lbs per 1,000 square feet and do this 2-3 times throughout the warmer months. No problems at all.
