Ours are white and I've tried scrubbing with a long handled brush and cleaning solution but the black crud still remains. What's the best way to attack this?

Jomax probably. Mix with bleach and water in a garden sprayer.

This has worked for me, and it's basically hands off as far as scrubbing.

Spray it on, let it sit a bit and then hit it with a fairly powerful hose spray and be done with it. I use one of those straight tip screw-on nozzles that produces a pretty powerful straight stream. You can find them at HD and Lowes.

Jomax is "plant safe" and you'll be diluting the bleach so much that it shouldn't hurt. That said I would probably hose down any plants before and after using it.

I think this is the product I bought in the spring. Gutter Guard

But my buddy says that LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner takes the black stripes off his camper. So I'm going to try that next spring, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than gutter guard. You can get it at Family dollar for about $7.50/gallon I think it's over $10 at Home Depot or Lowes.

Same from me. I've used it many times around flower beds and shrubbery and had no issues when hosing them down after washing off the Jomax.

Do you have an electric pressure washer you can borrow?

I do, as a matter of fact. It's at my house. I tried it before on the lower level without much success. A lot are really high, though.

Will try the LA's and a brush first but will definitely try on a remote area first.
I read stories of this stuff taking the paint off aluminum.

Please report back if LA's works.

A pressure washer wouldn't take the strips off my gutter. I do have to use a brush with the gutter guard.

If the other options fail, a magic eraser does a fine job. Its quick, but a hundred feet of gutter will take a while.

You will also burn through a lot of magic erasers.

And for those that don't know, the brand name Mr Clean Magic Erasers are just melamine sponge marked up 1,000%. Get a pack of 100 of them for like $15 instead. They aren't quite as durable as the name brand, but I still have a pile of them from 5 years ago.

Pressure washer...............nope

Bleach..........nope

You need an abrasive.

Only thing ive found that gets that stain, is Soft Scrub on a damp rag.

Go easy tho or you will scratch the finish

Its a bitch, but it DEFINITELY gets the stain off gutters.

They look great

The “30 second outdoor cleaner” sold at Home Depot, etc., is terrific. Spray it on and you don’t have to hose it. I was skeptical but it cleaned off the winter moldy crap off of my small 10’x14’ utility building. And, when it rained, it looked even better. Wish I had before and after pics for you.

Black Streak Remover, yep, that is a product. Spray it on. Use a mop or brush. Spray off.

I've used gutter grenade with success. Only problem is one time it basically took the paint off a portion of gutter. Odd situation. Only a small area and I was using the same mix that I used on the rest of that gutter run. I assume there was some type of paint defect in that portion of gutter, but who knows?

I don't know why people are downvoting you. That stuff works well. I will still use a soft bristle brush while it's wet to get more of the gunk off.

Back in the day we'd use TSP, but gotta be careful or you'll look like you've got a nasty sunburn.

kinda///you mix it with bleach. i would cover your plants if it were me, or at minimum be careful with the spray. easiest way to do that is to mix it in a pump garden sprayer
