What is the best method for cleaning painted brick? Spray it with clorox, then pressure wash?

High pressure might remove paint, I would use a low pressure , chemical wash

Jomax mixed to directions and sprayed on with one of those pump up garden sprayers. Let it sit for a few minutes and rinse off with a regular nozzle on your hose or from a decent distance with a pressure washer.

If mildew is present, add some household bleach to the Jomax to kill it.

i know right

i see an insane amount of houses built today with white painted brick and it only makes me cringe on how it will look in 5+ years because you know the average person is too lazy to take proper care of it

not to mention the white cabinets to go along with it

I couldn't in good conscious paint new brick, but this trend is absolutely better than stucco from a water management and durability point of view. One day people will want to re-expose the brick and that will be easy enough.

you know all this of which you laugh about can easily be changed with paint. god forbid people's styles change over time.

But why paint brick in the first place? You are only adding to the maintenance of the house when it eventually needs repainting, but if left alone, no paint is necessary---just an occasional cleaning.

I'd never paint a new brick home but I completely understand if someone paints over some of these terrible brick colors from years past.

I have a portion of my home that is painted brick. I think it accents well and it looks better than vinyl or stucco

Jomax mixed according to label has bleach in it and would do no good if you did not add bleach, Jomax is a bleach accelerator

Thanks! I tried Clorox right after I posted this and it didn’t do much. Gonna pick up some Jomax tomorrow.

Ours was that old yellow brick. It looked terrible. Painting it white was really our only option.

Wouldn’t know anything about that.

No one will want to expose them because if they knew the bricks were being painted during the build, then the bricks were the ugliest ones in the yard. We will all just keep them white. However, a bajillian times better than stucco around here. That is some cheap looking, cracked line shite for this area.

Jomax. Read the Label. Follow the instructions.

Idiot proof and works well.

I have white painted brick and I use Jomax and it works. The only thing I do which is against the label instructions is that I don't wash it off. I leave it on and let the rain wash it off. It works better for me that way.
