Controlling Fig Ivy

Scenario: I have a large cinder block wall along the back of my property that continues down to my neighbors backyard beyond my property line.
I want to grow fig ivy to cover the wall, but would like to be able to control it as best I could to not continue to their side.
Is it possible to contain its growth by spraying it with a vinegar based herbicide without killing the entire plant? Any other ideas?

that will require regular dedicated maintenance.
if you can’t easily reach the top of the wall I’d reconsider

If you spray a plant with any herbicide there Is a chance it will kill an entire plant. Looks like your need to prune it. Do you want the whole area covered? There are other plants you can train by using string tied to anchors in the brick. Pyracantha is one that comes to mind

Hedge trimmers, hand trimmers, scissors.

I do want the whole area covered. Fig ivy seemed to be the best available. I may just have to keep climbing up there with trimmers to keep it in my yard if there is no other way to train it while covering the wall.

there is not.
creeping fig is a ficus. Like all ficus it will strangle its host and completely take over if not mechanically controlled (ie: frequent cutting). If you plant it in a spot it likes, it will attempt a coup and likely will succeed
