Cost to remove carpet and replace

Trying to wrap my head around how much it would cost to remove roughly 1,000 sq. ft. of carpet and replace with wood flooring. I assume it is engineered but would have to find out in order to match it. Pic of flooring to help, if possible.

Depends on the flooring type. Floating click and lock is around $3 sq ft to install, it goes up from there for glue down, etc

Carpet removal per sq ft is cheap. Of course the replacement cost will depend on wood flooring you choose and installation method (floating vs glue down). Think in the neighborhood of about $3.50 per sq ft for installation cost and maybe $5 per square foot for the engineered wood floor. So for 1000 sq ft, I’d be budgeting about $10K. I just had all the flooring in my house replaced a couple months ago.
They’ll need to put 1/4 round molding along the walls unless the baseboard is cut to slide the floor underneath - you don’t have that with carpet.
That photo looks more like LVP (luxury vinyl plank) than engineered wood. LVP is less expensive to install than engineered wood but the cost of the flooring material might be comparable in cost to engineered wood - just depends on what you choose.

Your middle of the road install would be around $6-7 a Sqft.

Ok. Sounds like a $10k budget would be ideal. Thanks y'all.

Save yourself a few $ and pull the carpet yourself. It’s not that hard.

Pull that carpet yourself, quick and easy. Just cut it into manageable pieces and have somewhere to dump it. Not sure if local garage company will take it.

If you aren’t sure if they will take it, cut it in small sections, wrap w twine and make a handle. Drop off a little at a time and they usually won’t hesitate (especially if you put it in the can). If you put it all out at once, they may just leave it

I’ve installed floors twice or should I say paid to have them installed. Pulling out the carpet is a little work but rather easy.
See how much the contractor would charge you - he might be relieved that you are doing this.
For larger rooms I try to cut the carpet in long strips before actually pulling it up- it’s just easier to handle and doesn’t bang around on stuff. The back of carpet can be like sandpaper removing a little paint from doors etc.
