Craftsman garage door opener not pairing

The other thread made me decide to post this haha.
Purchased our first home a few months ago and I CANNOT get the remote to pair with the garage door opener. Neither of the two supplied by the owner will pair and I went and bought(now returned) a brand new universal remote, which will also not pair. Any ideas? I figure I could call someone in to service it, but I wonder if it'd be cheaper to just buy a new one? The opener works great other than not pairing.

I had this issue when I bought an older house years ago. Turned out to be the transmitter in the garage door unit itself. It was cheaper you just buy and replace the whole thing compared to buying the part. When buying a new one, you can get now get one with WiFi to open via an app for pretty cheap.

This may not happen, but I’d see if you can’t contact the old owner OP. Might be a small trick to it.

A buddy just installed a Lift Master extended range transmitter (MT5011)since the signal was weak due to being in a metal shed. The install was as simple as wiring two wires from the new transmitter into the existing wall controller. It did require new remotes (2.0 technology).
He just tossed the old remotes and left the old transmitter attached to the motor.

Have you matched up the dipswitch settings on the remote to the opener, or vice-versa?

Remove the cover plate on the door opener. There should be a code set with about four to six slide switches. Remove the back of the remote, set both switch sets the same. See if that works.
