Crawfish in yard

I live on a lot with a drainage ditch behind my property. It's mostly a blessing with no neighbors behind me but when it rains and the soil gets soft I always get crawfish chimneys in my yard which has caused my yard to be lumpy.
Are there any pesticide granules or preventative measures to keep them out of my yard?
Also for a slightly bumpy yard (I try to catch the mud mounds and throw them back over in the ditch but sometimes miss them) what would be the best way to flatten/level?

Lol you talking about cooking them or keeping them out of my yard? I guess that would do both.
But if you're being series, just mix that up in water and spray behind my fence on the property line?

Best thing for invasive species is to eat them.

I haven't had mounds in the yard since 1988, don't know why they went away other than drainage might have changed. Always heard that Spectracite granules down the chimney killed them.

Nope. I have the same fight in Cincinnati with a stream behind my house.

Seems reactionary rather than preventative?

Unfortunately it is reactionary as opposed to preventative but as you stated “ I live on a lot with a drainage ditch behind my property” and unless you change the landscape-habitat it’s something you’ll just have to live-deal with. Common issue for those who live adjacent to “non-permanent” waterbodies (those that fluctuate between wet & dry). Those that live adjacent to permanent waterbodies with predatory “crawfish eating” fish populations seldom have this issue.

Hand a neighbor kid an old golf club, point him in the right direction and offer him five dollars when he returns the club and there are no more mounds in the backyard. He will have a ball making the dirt fly and you will be rid of them for a while. He might even loan the club to a buddy, Tom Sawyer style, for a dollar or two.
