Cypress Knees: Wanna get rid of 'em...

I've got around 50 cypress knees that have popped up in my side yard that I wanna get rid of. They're just starting to protrude from the surface and I can see they will be trouble for my mower deck in the future.
Any suggestions? My first thought is to rent a stump grinder from Home Depot but willing to pay for professional to do it for me if the price is right.
Thanks.

Many here just keep them mowed.

I got rid of them from my neighbors tree. He had a problem with the same tree.
If not looked after, your mower will stop and you'll keep going.

I built 20 years ago with cypress knees in the rear of my lot. I too have about 40-70 small knees. After about 5 years of using an ax each year, I decided to hire a stump grinder. This lasted about 2 years then they were back.
For another 3-4 years I again used an ax. For the next 3 years every year I used a bit like this one with my cordless drill.

About 5 years ago I hired a guy on a mini excavator. He used the edge of his bucket to dig a few inches underneath and pull them out. Many were 10' long running a few inches underground parallel to the ground and looked like giant spaghetti.
Now they are back so I need to pull them out once again.

If you have one, you can remove them with a reciprocating saw below the ground. Also if the knees are fairly small the broad end of a mattock works good as well to cut and remove them below ground - or a combo of both.

You want to get rid of them for good?
Drill a hole in each knee and pour concentrated round up in them. Knees and tree won't be a problem anymore.
