Cypress mulch recommendations?

Looking for a good cypress mulch in the Thibodaux or Baton Rouge area. The mulch I normally use (Cypress Royale) is out of stock everywhere I know to look, so I'm searching for an alternative. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I'd suggest getting away from cypress. Companies are tearing up badly needed wetlands to produce that stuff.

Really? I didn't know that. Any suggestion for an alternative?

get some crushed limestone and dont look back, it lasts a lifetime with no downside at all.

In my single college days I would have been all for it

I guess that would depend on why you went with cypress in the first place. Looks?

Correct. I prefer the cypress look. Not a big fan of the red colored mulches.

Really then it is up to you if you want to look for alternatives. I can't really tell you what looks good

If I were you, I'd go to a couple of local nurseries and see if there is something you like. It is way cheaper than purchasing by the bag.

Cedar is an alternative. I find it discolors faster than cypress, but almost the same look. Nurseries have it at a premium.

pine straw
pine bark
leaves
or a combination of all three
personally, i get a big load of shredded bark from the sawmill delivered. this is mixture of pine and hardwood bark (no cypress)
next time you get a bag of cypress "mulch", open up the bag and take a good close look at whats in there...its way less bark and way more chipped wood. they arent bagging cypress bark as a leftover from the mill. they are grinding small cypress trees whole and then bagging that up

Well originally I was just looking for another good brand of cypress mulch since the one I use is out of stock, but now you got me rethinking cypress all together
. Decisions, decisions.. lol. Thanks for your input though.

I'm definitely not the type to go around telling people what to use or not use around their house because to each their own, but I do hope at least reconsider their methods.
I wish I could remember where I found the pictures of where a company was taking down cypress trees. It was pretty eye opening seeing before and after pictures of what was nice natural wetlands being stripped bare, then eventually being replaced by invasives like tallow trees.
