Landscaper doing work for me talked me out of pine needles so I will give cypress or cedar (not bark...the good stuff). Anyone have any pros/cons of cypress v. cedar?

I've heard cedar is naturally resistant to termites, due to the oils in the wood. So I would go with cedar, but that's literally the only reason I have.

I did cypress one year because it was recommended that it wouldn't fade as fast. It faded after about 2 and a half months. Maybe I got a bad batch. I did cedar one year and it seemed to last pretty decently.

Cypress will not rot or wash away

I use the cypress bark mulch from Lowes.
It's $9 a bag, but holds up and last a long time.

Use shredded cypress bark mulch. Never the “no float” or even other cypress mulches.
It mats well, holds it’s reddish brown color, and stays put.
