Deck staining question

I put two coats of solid color deck stain last year because because I slightly changed colors. I just finished staining with the same color and I am thinking one coat should be enough. In general, is this a safe assumption?

If it's evenly coated, just go with one. How did you apply it-----using a garden type sprayer to do it or with roller and brush?
Roller and brush would apply more product is my experience as opposed to a mist of spray from a sprayer.

I used one of those car washing brushes with the soft bristles. They hold a lot of paint and fit perfectly in a 5 gallon bucket. Thanks for your reply. The internet seems somewhat divided on one coat or two.

2 coats but I don’t put much stock in a company trying to get me to use more product than I need so they can sell me more. Much like lather, rinse, repeat. Repeat is BS.

I’ve stained many decks and never used multiple coats. In my opinion it just gets gummy, the wood only soaks what it will soak.
