Do Spartan Mosquito Eradicators Work?

Trying to get ahead of the mosquito invasion this year and several people have recommended this Spartan Mosquito Eradicator stick. No one has actually used one though themselves, they just heard it works. Figured I'd ask here

I've seen several posts here about these, mixed responses. I just this year went and bought a backpack fogger and some liquid talstar. I am probably going to have to expand my fogging zone to include my neighbors yard, but they'll kick in for talstar so I am fine with adding more area to keep them from flying in to my yard.

They worked extremely well for me. I setup one kit on opposite corners of my property and it was hard to find mosquitos. I work in my workshop with the garage door open and never have an issue.

I sprayed Bifen XTS around my yard and tree line and barley saw a single flying insect for a few weeks, but already needing to reapply again

Used Spartan in three different locations last summer. They worked exceptionally well.
In the past l would use a large thermacell lantern when we were on our deck in the yard...didn't use it a single time last summer.

Amazon has a "1 acre starter pack" for $49. Just ordered one. I'll report back.
ETA: Comes with 2 boxes (4 canisters)

They need to be put out early spring to get ahead of the mosquito "hatch." Hang them ASAP.

Yeah I'm hoping by doing 4 in a relatively small area will do the job. The mosquitoes aren't that bad yet, but I have seen a few. Hopefully, it's not too late.

The reviews on Amazon are bad. Apparently it's only sugar and salt. I have a Thermacell I'm going to try this year.

Trying to figure out something also. I don’t really have trees around me to make a barrier. Gonna have to try some kind of spray.

Where can you buy these locally?

I know the local feed store/co-op here in Ponchatoula sells them. Maybe try a similar store down there.

I saw them at clegg's nursery a few weeks ago.
I just bought the 4 pack from amazon. For $50 it's worth seeing if they are worth a shite.

I just got a 2 pack from my local nursery for 19.95. will report back in a couple of weeks.
Of course, I also just spray talstar, which is usually pretty effective. I'm hoping the combination of talstar and Spartan really takes care of them.

I started using them last summer/fall, didn’t notice a big difference last year, but have had them out continuously (changed every 2-3 months) and while I do still get bit every now and then, I hardly ever see them in the house anymore and it’s much better in the evenings since using them.

It's just a tube with a powder mix of (likely) yeast, sugar, and such. Their promo material says it is the same ingredients found in a sugar cookie.
You mix the powder with warm H2O, and it emits CO2 (like human breath) that attracts the skeeters to (hopefully) enter one of the conical holes at the top of the tube and drown inside.
People all over the world have made their own "mosquito traps" for decades with pop bottles and sugar/yeast. They do catch a few bugs, but is it enough to matter?
I put up two last year near bushes that had plenty of mosquitoes. They caught a few, but not enough to get excited about. And you have to wonder how long the mix will continue to emit CO2. A few days? I mixed up my own yeast and sugar mix to rejuvenate them after a few weeks.
Great marketing that I really wanted to believe, but I've concluded they're not worth the money. Pump up the Talstar sprayer and, if that doesn't get them all, use a Thermacell.
This Amazon reviewer nailed it:

This is a mosquito trap. That is all it is. The ingredients are 11% salt and 88% table sugar with less than 1% yeast (that stuff you buy in the baking section). The yeast starts eating the sugar and the CO2 gas it produces attracts mosquitoes. They enter the device through conical 1-way holes (like in a minnow trap), they get trapped in there, and drop dead. That's why the water you add has to be warm. Yeast won't wake up in cold water. The thing is, the company isn't trying to hide this fact from anyone, company co-president Jeremy Hirsch has given a number of interviews where he says exactly what's in there and how it works. The only thing is you shouldn't get fooled by the idea that you have to buy a new one of these every 90 days or whatever. Just make the mix at home, re-fill and you're good to go again. This is basically a small version of those large mosquito trap machines but it doesn't need electricity or propane. If you want to save money, put out something online that says you are looking for used/empty Spartan canisters and just fill them with the % of ingredients to the weight level printed on the label itself.

That's not true apparently the most important ingredient is the yeast that forms CO2 and attracts mosquitoes.
