i realize you have to buy both the fridge and freezer separetly and depending on where you get it; its going to be around 5-7k total but i love the idea of the counter depth fridge and freezer with all the room in the world.

good reviews overall from what i've seen.

we're gutting our kitchen so deciding where to put it isn't a concern.

I actually just looked into these. We are remodeling our kitchen and I’m thinking about pulling the trigger on these. I too like the counterdepth and more room these would provide

those are often made as one unit with 2 sides, the ones i have seen can share one refrigeration unit that sits on the top of it, or 2 separate units made as one with the compressors on the bottom of each.

if you have the ability to remodel around it i would, but keep in mind, the replacement for it a few years from now may not fit unless you make sure the one you buy is a standard width

We have those. In service since December of 2020.

Installing the surround trim kit is no small feat. And the more room you have in front of them, the better. If you install the trim kit, you're attaching the two together, which of course makes servicing them more challenging. We purchased the units during covid delays, so we got our trim kit about 6 months after we moved into our new home. Our trim kit is still in the garage. My SO brings up installing it every few months, I will continue my effort to delay. They look fine without it imo.

As far as having and enjoying them, so far they've been great.

If you've never had a counter depth before, it's far from all the room in the world. A large sized pizza box won't fit in a counter depth.

Those look really nice though. Like REALLY nice.

I have these. I have zero complaints except for the fact that we have the fridge with no water dispenser.

You have to lay them on their back to hook some of the parts up..

Good to know about the trim kit. I looked at both the louvered (first pic) and solid (second pic) and I like the first one the best.

And to the person saying there's no room... It's like 68" wide because it's 2 full size units. there's room for days and we're moving the existing fridge to the utility room so we have that for overflow.

Wiz .. Do you have the fridge with or without the water dispenser? I hear it's more of a challenge to hook that up because the fridge and freezer need separate water lines.

ETA the only other thing that was odd is the little $60 heating pad you have to put between them if you're putting them against each other.

Only downside I know of is I see a lot of freon leaks in these. But that's not a hard fix.
They are superior to most high end fridges and give great volume.

You only need to remove 4 screws from the bottom and the middle snap in piece to separate them usually.
They are both on wheels too and both are pretty light for their size. Compared to a built in.

You can use a splitter. A t valve even.
Change your faucet from a single 1/4" to a dual. Buy you can also have both share a tap. Using push in shark bite style connectors 1/4".

I've seen the freezer with a water dispenser as well. The freezer also uses the classic mechanical Frigidaire icemaker. Last forever and really cheap to replace if need be.

Not true at all. You have a lot of space yes but no single shelf is large, the area inside the fridge on counter depth is much more narrow. It’s much more difficult or impossible as said to fit something like a pizza box, large bowl, cookie sheet, etc in the fridge.

Now if you have a second fridge that works. But if you have a second/3rd fridge I’m not sure why you’d need this also.

DO NOT BUY!

We have that set up and it’s been nothing but trouble. Moved in 2 years ago:
-compressor on refrigerator is LOUD. Obviously not mounted properly, shakes the whole fridge when it shuts off. Haven’t wanted to pull the fridge out and take apart to figure it out.
-water dispenser button sticks, so 20% of the time that you get water, it keeps shooting out after pulling the glass away.
-freezer quit making ice about 6 months ago. Googled and it was an ice block in the line. Fixed it for a few weeks. Remedy hasn’t worked since, so we just buy bagged ice.

Tempted to spend $10k just to be done with these things.

eta: my model numbers -
Refrigerator FPRU19F6WF0
Freezer FPFU19F8WF0

Good info. I'm looking at the non-water dispenser fridge as its on sale for $1,399 as opposed to $3K and we already have a whole-home water filtration system.

In Napoleon I Trust He hasn't steered me wrong yet.

Same. We have them and I do miss having a water dispenser, but we just use a brita pitcher.

eta: to clarify, we have the separate units that look like one unit b/c of the trim kit. I bought it from Stanton's and paid a few extra bucks for them to send someone to hook it up. The installer showed me how to uninstall them if I ever needed to separate them.

there's a little thermal(?) kit that they recommend you purchase to go in between them. could that be related to the freon issue or is that entirely different? I know there's some issue that kit is supposed to remediate.

We have the same as the units in the pics above and my middle shelf will fit a large pizza box from dominoes, pizza hut, papa johns, etc. We have small kids and order pizza a couple of times a month. The way the inside is shaped, there are some shelves that aren't deep enough. But I can assure you that over the past 5 years, I've stuck many of large pizzas in that fridge.

i'm glad to see there are other people with these units. i had honestly never heard of them until we started looking for fridges and the wife said she absolutely didn't want a fridge with ice & water sticking out on the door.

women

now that i've seen this, i can't imagine sticking an ugly samsung with a LED screen on it or anytihng with a big ugly ice/water contraption on the exterior in our new kitchen.

Well now I am thinking that I have two separate units with the trim kit to make it look like one. The fridge and freezer each have a model number inside.

The fridge is without a water line. We keep a brita thing in there.

ETA: I guess they are all two pieces with a trim kit. You can just have louvered vs. flat trim?

Been having them since 2016. Only problem was a bad circuit board after a storm. Easy replacement.
