durable and comfortable outdoor couch set?

I want an L shaped sectional to fit on a deck, I can fit 120” in the long direction and 72” in the short.
the Wayfair type stuff is a good price but it seems like cheap Chinese crap? Anyone have something like this?
LINK
on the other hand I’m seeing pretty expensive sets made of composite, like this one from trex
LINK
that one is made in USA, 20 yr warranty, etc but quadruple the price. I’m ok with buy once/cry once but I’m hoping someone has experience with this kind of thing.
I’m 58 years old and somehow have never bought a piece of outdoor furniture before
thx for any advice

Good for you, that you made it this long without spending a fortune on outdoor furniture.
To truly evaluate the quality (and even then, it's iffy), is to visit some local showrooms.
We have some pretty pricey stuff that we purchased locally (through a showroom), and another set that we purchased online, that is still pretty good. It's RST brands (.com)
We have 2 loungers, 2 cushioned chairs, a hightop and 2 chairs from RST. The fabric cleans up well, and it still looks nice after 3 years.
Not sure of the brand of the pricier stuff, but it is nicer, but probably twice the price. How nice do you really want?
That's the best info I can offer from my office chair.

just needs to be comfortable and sturdy. It will be outside and uncovered though I will probably try to find a tarp or fabric cover to keep it protected. That plastic wicker stuff seems like a bad idea
3K is way too much but I’d be ok at 2K for something better quality

Yea, it really depends on what structure is under the plastic wicker stuff.
Our RST stuff has the wicker stuff, and it's all pretty sturdy.

I really want this set from Sam's Club but I can't bring myself to pony up $3300

We did as a Christmas present to ourselves 2yrs ago after building a home. Very happy with it. Seems very well made also.

yes the prices on what I’m looking for are insane, plus you have to assemble it. I’m going to draw what I want and see what it would take to build it out of composite or hardwood or even treated pine. It isn’t that complicated
after measuring I can make each piece 27” wide with one RH end, one LH end, one corner and three middle pieces

That woven shite will fall apart. I finally spent some money on good outdoor furniture. Outer makes some of the nicest stuff and it’s very comfortable. Stays clean with covers and still looks good after 4 years.

exactly what I’m looking for but I’m not spending 4800 bucks on it. I can make that (I think)

I never said it was cheap. But better that throwing away every few years. They had a pretty big sale when I bought mine. I gave the teak. My only complaint is the wood tends to bleed and stain the cushions but it comes off.
You could probably build but teak is expensive and not easy to work. But it’s the cushions that really make it nice. Very comfortable and easy to clean. The aluminum frames are nice and a little cheaper. I kind of regret not going that route.

A bit late reply, but didn't see mentioned here rattan.
Rattan is well-known for its strength and resilience, making it perfect for outdoor use where it has to withstand varying weather conditions. It doesn't easily deteriorate and can handle moisture better than many other materials, like wood.
I mean something like the ones on https://www.gardencentreshopping.co.uk/. The price for rattan is pretty reasonable, and it should last for many years.

I wound up getting a sectional from polywood. It was expensive but it’s really nice and super comfortable. The frame will last forever we will see on the cushions but so far so good. I made a cover for it out of two heavy duty tarps

Do yourself a favor and cover it with this and reapply it every 2-3 years. It will greatly extend the lift of that fabric. And since it is a lighter color, it should help protect against stains when something is spilled on it or from molding.

Sitting on our patio 10 years, plastic wicker is holding up far better than I expected. It was pretty expensive. The frames are tubular steel covered with 2-layers (clear and patterned) of fake-wood plastic...vinyl, I guess. That has pitted through in a few places causing discolored spots, but it doesn't look too bad.
The woven parts look great. They are covered by cushions and get no sun.
Most of the time our 4 pieces are under the porch roof and only get morning sun and minimal rain. That's extremely important.
I've never been brave enough to buy anything fancier. So La sun, rain, mold and humidity are just too bad to expect durability. The catalog and website pics always look like sunny and dry So Cal. for a reason.

My only advice is whatever you buy, you should buy spare cushions at the time of purchase if available, because whenever you need them, you likely won’t be able to find them

Costco has nice, durable outdoor furniture. Get something with an aluminum frame and sunbrella fabric on the cushions.

Stuff like complete outdoor furniture sets it’s probably worth your while to shop estate sales in known retirement areas.
My parents saved several thousand bucks that way in Hot Springs Village,AR. The old retired folks in that area are always dropping like flies and they move in from all across the country bringing higher end stuff not available except regionally in their originating area. There’s constant estate sales in areas like that.
Heck, it’s worth renting a trailer and spending a week in a neighboring area while shopping estate sales.

The Eclipse set at Chair King is the pinnacle of outdoor furniture with fully welded thick aluminum frames and indoor like comfort. Even then, one of my chairs has popped a couple bolts that hold the chair bottom. Super easy fix. Also the cushions will be pretty worn after 10 years and that’s if the critters don’t get to them first.
