Error code 12 - Rinnai tankless water heater

So bath time comes for the kids and the water won’t heat up. I go in the attic to check out the water heater and it’s beeping with error code 12. I did some research and see that it’s a flame failure (low gas pressure, dirty flame rods, who knows what).
Yesterday, my AC decides to crap out. The coil and outside unit were replaced. Do you think my issues now with the water heater are at all related to something the AC technician did or failed to do? Or is this just coincidence and bad luck on my part.
I will be calling a plumber to come check it out in the morning. Anyone have opinions or suggestions? I appreciate any feedback.
Edited to add that AFTER the AC system was replaced yesterday, we all took hot showers/baths and all was well. But now error code 12 and no hot water.

Haven’t looked up the code, but my bet is that it has to be de-scaled. How long has it been installed, and has it been de-scaled before?

Did a flush about 6 months ago. Will go ahead and flush again in the morning. Surely hope that works but I’m not confident that’s the fix.

If it was properly de-scaled 6 months ago, there’s no way it should be an issue now.

Pull the electrodes, clean w/steel wool or Scotchbrite, reinstall, good as new…

This was exactly the fix. Flame rods needs to be cleaned up. Thanks.
