I want an out-building for workshop & tractor/tool storage, 20 x 50 (+/-), and Mallett is on my list for a design and quote.

Anyone have dealings with them, good or bad? Their website is impressive but that doesn't necessarily translate into a good product.

TIA, and if you have a recommendation for another builder, I'm all ears.

He (Lee Mallett) registered and posted a few times defending himself and his reputation but I have zero idea about the buildings or quality. He’s somehow got a reason to defend himself but I don’t know if it’s because he’s an easy target or it’s earned if you know what I mean? Wish I could be more helpful.

I work with a guy that used to be employed with Mallet. If HALF of his Lee stories are true, that dude is gonna get the Big Lee of Metairie treatment one day, if you know what I mean.

They look ok. I know that here in Lafourche parish there was an issue that the inspector didn’t think the buildings were to code. But they were stamped by an engineer so there was nothing they could do. The foundation for the poles is not the way I would do it but I guess it works. I used a price that I got from a friend that used Mallet and tried to put it together myself and got my cost close but it’s not worth doing it yourself.

Stay away from Mallett Buildings. I vetted out metal buildings pretty heavily last year and ended up going with Star metal building out of Texas. They are tubular steel which some people balk at, but I ended up going double walled tubular steel which is pretty darn stout.

Mallett will stamp your building saying it's a bomb shelter if you want. I am from the area and no one local ever has good things to say.

Also, red iron buildings will always be stronger than the alternatives, they are also way more expensive.

We have used them twice. Both times there was delays and poor communication. Very satisfied with the final building and the cost, you’re just going to be frustrated working with them.
