Planted a long hedge row last year of sweet viburnum. They did fine and grew to about 2’ tall and 2’ diameter last year. They took a lick from the snow we had but are sprouting back nicely. I’d like to push them along with fertilizer but can’t find much info (type, quantity, etc).

I have a big 1.25” steel spike I use to make holes around my trees to dump in 13-13-13. I woild think I do the same here but not sure the amount.

Any advice or pro tips?

Any pics? Need to plant some things along a fence line…. I’d love to see the look.

TIA

Following. I planted some SV about 3 years ago, and I thought they would be much bigger now than they are.

I'm far from a "pro" but this is what I do.

Also, at this point most of my shrubs are 15 gallon size and up.

I typically take a big handful of 10-10-10 slow release fertilizer and put all around the root balls and water in (...or put down the day before rain). If the shrub looks like it needs more than love than others, I may throw down an additional half a handful or so on those specific ones.

Something else I do to help kickstart in spring is use foliar applied product like FloraGreene ( LINK). I just did both this past weekend and it takes a bout a week or so to start seeing results.

I haven't had any issues doing it this way. I'm curious to see how quickly my shrubs will start taking off again as some of them took a beating with the snow event. There may even be a few that I will have to replace.

I hope this helps...

Look into Linebackers as well as an option.
