Bought a 2 acre lot to build a few years back and getting ready to build...
What are building costs per sq ft running right now? We're looking at 2600 sq ft house with modest finishes? Single level home with 6 in slab and 2X6's. Thanks...

I've reached out to a couple builders on some preliminary drawings we have. One estimate was 186 Sq ft and the others were round about 200.
Waiting on a few more to get back to me. This is in Prairieville

Budget 200 and target 180.

We are currently building in Prairieville. Our cost to build is 175.00 per/sq. The quotes ranged from 165.00 to 275.00. These quotes are for the construction of the home, this cost doesn't include any property development. We paid for dirt work, water well, and propane out of pocket. Building a home is VERY expensive right now.

Who are you using to build?

We are using Cretin Townsend Homes. So far, the building experience has been painless. The biggest issues we have faced so far is permitting throug the parish. Ascension has been very hard to deal with.

A coworker of mine gave me a guy's number to one of the reps there so I'll be calling him next week.

I can send you a number for a builder in st Tammany, recently got a price from him that was WAY less than these responses. Build was gonna be just outside st Tammany, wouldn’t effect price that much. Closer to $120-130 per sqft under roof.

Closed in April at $140 sq/ft under roof

Don't use Ron Lee as a builder.

So who is this unicorn?

I think Roper out of Paulina is right around that number for total under roof. Depending on what type of garage, storage, porches, etc you have the numbers could still work out to roughly 180 living Sq ft.

Well whats his name? Does his company have a page?

Indytiger,
That 120-130 is under roof, meaning it includes garage, covered porches, etc...
For instance the preliminary we have is 2655 living and 4100 total. So 2655 x 185 = 491175
4100 x 120 = 492000.
Not all under roof will be the same of course, but this isn't a unicorn, it's right on par with everyone else.
