Again, ROOKIE here... looking to possibly replace front entrance to our house. Would be 3 steps, would go basic style nothing crazy and fancy, just wondering how much it would cose in the BALLPARK... to complete.

TIA!

(Pic below is not my house, but wanted to give a visual of what we are trying to possibly accomplish while replacing - simple basic)

Good brick layers are hard to find and they have all the work they can get at the moment. So set expectations accordingly.

I know a local guy ( went to school with his daughter)... so probably could get something lined up possibly, but I'm tiptoeing around reaching out because we have other projects going on...

But just trying to gauge the price possibly

FYI, that pic is an example of a house needing railings per most insurance companies.

Many in my neighbor including myself had to put railings on our steps.

I had steps similar to the photo except with 5 steps about 5 years ago for $2,500 labor and materials.

i looked into this myself and found a few issues.

thats a shite ton of weight you are adding with bricks and mortar so you need to pour a good strong solid foundation to support it and thats gonna cost you a bit to do. then based on where you are the codes on railings and step heights are something you need to find out. lastly, its way way more expensive then you ever thought to do this.

in my case rather then cut my slab and pour a new foundation i had aluminum steps with railings made for my house that bolts to the slab so i didnt need to do any slab cutting or foundation work

they cost me $1250 each and its kind of an industrial look, which isnt the prettiest, but mine was pretty similar to this LINK

Hope you are right...but we had something that meet code, but still 2 years later Mr. Insurance Man said who cares about meeting code, you have to install railings.

How do you get to the point of getting by with 3 steps?

Would someone please give this guy an answer? Quit telling him about railings and asking why he sent a pic with more steps than he wanted.

I paid $1250 for the labor for my steps back in 2018, but that was part of the overall cost to do the house. Did not include brick, sand, mortar, or concrete base.

Adjusting to todays prices, probably around $500 for brick, $250 for mortar/sand, $500 for concrete, and $1500 for the labor…$2500 is probably a decent ballpark estimate.

i'm right outside the purview of our historic district which does require them, but i had to add them for my parents. I didn't like it, but it became painful to watch them unable to go up the stairs.
