Killing a Crepe Myrtle Stump

Any advice? I drilled in to it earlier this year and put round up in the holes. It's started sprouting suckers again. I've seen recommendations to use 2-4d, Dicamba, etc. Which works the best?

Drill deeper and add more round up.

More holes and soak with round up. Wait a day, build a bonfire around it, soak with kerosene, burn it, dig up the entire root system after fire goes out, then move to a new house.

RM43 and diesel maybe? I cut one down at the house not thinking and it has sprouts coming up 30’ around it in the yard now. So, in the same boat.

Try RM43 from Tractor Supply instead of roundup.

You have to keep refilling the holes with roundup. It will take time but it will die.

While there's no guarantee it'd work on crepe myrtles, I've used full strength 2-4D to kill dozens of willow trees of various sizes by girding the trunk of the tree within a distance of about a foot above the ground and generously pouring undiluted 2-4D on the entire girded part of the tree. Every time I used that technique on a willow tree, the tree died. I'd guess it'd work just as well on a crepe myrtle stump.

cut the top 1-2" completely off with a chainsaw and immediately brush on round up generously. has to be done quickly after cutting before the cells close up.
this will allow the entire stump to absorb the chemical, not just where you drilled.

yup.
I cut down some trees on my propertly in the beginning of the year to the stump.
I let them sprout up and then soaked them in RM43.
They are dead as a doornail now

Look for Triclopyr as active ingredient. Ferti-Lome makes a stump killer that is 8.8% triclopyr. That product would possibly be at independent nurseries or garden centers, I’d assume.

What about an actual "stump remover" product like HI-Yield makes?

Round up, RM43 (basically same as roundup = glyphosate) nor 24-D are made to kill woody stalk plants, although they can kill them if enough is applied or conditions are right. As some have said Triclopyr (Remedy and others) is a good option, either at full strength or 50/50 mix with water or diesel. Tordon is also a good choice.

This is the method I've used. Years ago someone here posted that molasses was toxic to them, so I've used a 50/50 mix of roundup and molasses, and it killed them with no further shooters/runners.
