Kobalt 40v pole saw review

Bought one of these a few weeks ago. Bought the extended warranty to go with it.
Also bought an extra 4ah 40v battery to go with it.
The saw is in 3 pieces but you can use it with just the base and the saw and that’s the way I’ve used it the most. The saw has been pretty rock solid save for the blade tensioning screw. I’ve bent one and had to replace the saw. Now knowing that, I’ve been a little more careful with it.
I’ve used it at the farm to cut small 6-12” diameter trees (cedar and sweetgum) and it easily cut through 5” diameter hickory limbs.
The 4ah battery last much longer than the 2ah that comes with the saw.
Over all high marks but the tensioning screw need to be beefier.
I have an extendable Stihl that I love but it’s very heavy and I wanted something lighter.

Work with a guy who swears by his Kobolt pole saw
Glad they make a decent tool for the money

I’ve got a chainsaw by them and it works well

I can echo your review for the 20V version I bought recently. Like yours the blade tensioning does tend to slip, but loosening the tightening knob and the built in spring instantly pops it back to proper tension. The run time is fine for me but if Lowes doesn't put the batteries on special, I'll gamble with one of the higher capacity knock off twin packs on Amazon.

Haven't tried a kobalt but have used a dewalt for a cpl of yr. Cordless pole saws are really handy and w multiple batteries you can keep working for hours.
No complaints w the dewalt, just like a chainsaw u have to keep the chain sharp or its not nearly as effective

I have the dewalt chainsaw as well with about 6 6AH batteries. We take it with us when we go to the camp and cut trail. The batteries last longer than I can cut for out there. I just ordered some new chains off of Amazon. Anyone know how aftermarket chains hold up? I also bought a chainsaw sharpener to sharpen the factory chain.
I may give the Kobalt pole saw a try. I do need a pole saw relatively often.
ETA: didn't realize Dewalt had a pole saw. Guess I'll go with Dewalt so I don't have to carry multiple batteries.

Its a beast outstanding product. Trick to tension adjustment is to back off a 1/2 turn on the big side bolt then adjust and retighten. Keep it full of oil... Bad arse Saw

Good to know. Been thinking of getting one of these. I already have the 40v hedge trimmer and weedeater and like them both.
