Looking for some insight on timing of using Specticle Flo for doveweed prevention strategy. I’ve already put down prodiamine higher rate in February. (Concerned with root pruning ; St Aug Turf)

Per some reading doveweed germinates around 70’? Is this correct ? Just watch temp charts or shoot for a late April/early May app?

Would you do a split application of Spectacle or just a higher dose? And what would the dose be per 1000ft/gal?

Thanks Guys

My plan was to apply mid to late April here based on advice last season for Doveweed.

Crawdude said,
Doveweed - Celsius herbicide with surfactant for post-emergent control, Specticle herbicide for pre-emergent control, applied in mid to late April. Seeds germinate at soil temp of 70 F.

Southpaw is much cheaper than Specticle and is rated for dove weed, Virginia buttonweed and nutsedge among other troublesome weeds.

I have used Specticle Flo for several years. Last year instead of split applications i did a single application. This year I am going back to the split application as I believe the results were better vs the single application. But have been very pleased with it overall. VBW and Dove weed are virtually non-existent in my yard.

Southpaw is a herbicide, while it does target aforementioned weeds, would rather prevent than treat after the fact ..as all herbicides cause some turf stress

I have been using 0.18 ou/gal/1000sq ft. My application is typically the first of April and then again the first of Oct. This is just under the yearly allowed max rate.

Ok thanks.
So the 0.18 done twice per year spring/fall stays under yearly limit ?
