Budget around $3k, looking for something low maintenance. Is vinyl the way to go? Kids are very young so metal may be a tad aggressive. Any suggestions? TIA

i have no idea what a vinyl playground set is.
can you explain the type of maintenance expected with a playground set?

Not sure if you are meaning a professional playground or a backyard model.
Santa brought a Lifetime set from Costco for my two boys 6 years ago. It is metal tubes with vinyl accessories. It wasn't anywhere near $3k and has held up very very well. I did notice this winter after raking some of the kids toy crap out from under it, that there is a bit of hidden rust on the underside of the 2nd floor deck. I expect it to easily last another 3-4 years until they are too old to care about it. At which time, it will have served its purpose in spades.
ETA: I typed 3-4 years ago, and realized it was 6 years ago.
Man the time has passed fast. My oldest had just turned 2 on the October before he got it and handled it just fine.

Get a tetherball Pole that way the kids can have fun all day for years. Then when your daughter gets older she’ll have what she needs to get a Headstart on her career

I just installed this last weekend. Was $1000 from Costco. My daughters are 5 and 3 with a newborn on the way

We got a Lifetime from Sam's about 4.5 years ago. Put it together in May before his birthday in June, and had a big backyard birthday party with friends and cousins. I think he was turning 3. Older kids still use the swings, and my oldest son is 7 now, and the youngest is 2.5. It gets used a ton, along with the in-ground trampoline we put in late this summer. Also my neighbors have 4 kids and all summer they would all go back and forth between our yards. They have more open space, with a big trampoline and old wooden playset, and we have this one. Sort of helps to have the boys playing in one yard and the girls in the other. Cuts down on those brother/sister fights.
This is the one we have, and you build the large central structure out of poles and set that down and add the rock wall panels and slide to that. Hardest part was the roof, just for how awkward it is once assembled. I climbed up the ladder with it and set it on top then bolted it down.

We've got the Chinese cedar Discovery set. Set up blows but it'll last a decade. They you can burn it.

Bought commercial swings and slide years ago off Craigslist. That was a couple homes ago, but I would bet the playground equipment outlasts the house.

We had one of these for 8 years. Just pulled it down this week. Great value. Probably cost around $1000 back then.

I got the Backyard Discovery made with Chinese “Cedar” and it looked terrible. The wood is so fragile. Has anyone tried the Treefrog brand?

Looks like you need to lower the swing seats. No way a 5 and 3 yr. old can reach them without help----unless you or the wife plan on propping them up there and pushing them all day long.
