Looking for thoughts on luxury vinyl flooring from anyone that has them or thought about them.
In particular in regards to volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

You must be fun at parties.
J/K'ing
Your post would be the first time I ever heard of this.
A quick google search seems to reveal that the chemicals used in the past that may have made this a lasting issue are no longer used and that the chemical "gas off" from newly installed floor only last a few weeks.
Never did I experience any chemical smells after our floor was recently installed.
Edit to add:
Our newly installed flooring while technically considered LVT is actually SPC (stone plastic composite). So maybe that its why we didn't experience any chemical smells?

Have installed many of these, most recently last week. I don’t recall any odor, if that is your concern.

Yeah I think it’s crazy as well, but, a friend of ours is going with tile over this because of these VOC’s. The contractor thinks it’s crazy as well.
until yesterday I had never heard of VOC’s. But, just wanted to ask.
You happy with the luxury vinyl flooring? Thinking of going with that instead of tile.

We are very happy with it so for.
I find trying to select things like flooring to be extremely difficult because you never know how it will actually look and/or feel until it is installed.
I really think me overruling the wife on the floor selection this time around was a good decision.
Here's a picture.
Don't mind the window covering, we are on a long waiting list for plantation shutters to be installed.

I am happy with the look and feel of ours but they sold me on being kid and pet resistant to scratches. We had neither but scratched it moving a nightstand a few inches over.
I have asthma and am extremely sensitive to chemicals and had no off gassing issues in two houses. I have had more problems with new mattresses and sofas.

We have it in our new home and didn’t notice any smell at all.

Looks good....what brand and color is that?

I’m having this LVT installed next week in the house. LINK. Claims 0 emissions. Replacing original to the house engineered hardwood flooring and some tile flooring, plus a couple rooms that are still carpeted.

Do the repeats not bother you? I can see the same plank at least 5 times in that pic....that would drive me crazy and is the reason we didn't go LVP.

What was the price per sq/ft?

Something we tried to look into a little was a larger number of patterns but I don’t really remember getting any where when we asked those questions.
If I don’t specifically look for it on the floor I never notice it. It doesn’t bother me at all.

There is nothing luxurious about vinyl.
I give them an a+ for this marketing scheme but again, there is nothing luxurious about vinyl.
I may as well be looking at some linoleum when I see it.
We build high end luxurious homes and not a single one has had lvp in it.

Nah man.
Either real wood or tile
My main grip about it is the labeling it luxurious.
It’s vinyl plank.

I don't disagree with you here.

Yes, its not hardwood, but there are some very good options that are far better than linoleum.

I have hardwood now. New house (800k - so relatively high end) is all LVP and Tile in the bathrooms. I hate how the hardwood has held up with dogs and life.

We still have hardwood in our daughters bedrooms but after the damage from Ida we decided to go this route.
Fingers crossed we still like it in 10 years.
