Moving locally in late December and looking for a moving company just to move heavy furniture. Have heard some horror stories so I'm looking for any reccomendations.

Student movers are pretty good. Used them three times with no issues

We’ve used Two Men & a Truck twice and they’ve been exceptional both times.

I'm paranoid about movers since I've been burned in the past.

My recommendation is no matter who you go through, document everything with pictures of your furniture before it goes on the truck. Take pictures of the movers, and the truck your stuff is going on.

As soon as your stuff comes off the truck, inspect it and if something is missing/damaged: notify the moving company immediately.

My friend used them recently and his experience was horrible enough that I would never use them.

Your friend is probably a douche-canoe and the reason for the crappy service. Those guys are awesome.

I used them and don’t consider myself a deuche canoe and my experience was TERRIBLE. Sent out less workers than was agreed on. They damaged MANY items. Can’t say how terrible they were enough.

Honestly he's the opposite. The fact that he even mentioned they were bad means they were beyond horrible.

Abba is the choice in BR. Took the rec off this board and had great experience in June.

Two Men and a Truck used to be awesome. They now send not enough guys or guys that can't physically lift heavy things.

I have family members who were happy with Abba.

Quality Movers of Louisiana. I have used these guys twice personally moving into houses and three times professionally moving businesses. Jimmy, owner, is class act top notch.

No, I am not Jimmy.

We used 2 men and a truck from BR to Houston and they did a fantastic job. Super friendly crew who were even throwing the football with my kids on their break.

Highly recommend them

Update- I used abba for my move last year since other family members had good experiences. The sales guy who did the quote was great. The actual movers were so awful I can barely talk about it without getting ridiculously upset. They caused so much stress it was unreal.

A couple of family friends made the move from California back to La. a few months ago and were basically held hostage by the moving company they hired.

Got a price for the move and on the day they arrived to start loading the truck they basically tore up the paperwork and "renegotiated" the job for an additional $2K and managed to damage or lose some of their stuff on the way here.

Needless to say, they are suing and I hope the win enough to bankrupt the crooked bastards.
