Neighbors unchecked Bahia infiltrating my lawn….

Can it be stopped? I’ve thrown MSM turf, Celsius, hell I’ve thrown Quiclorac on it too……. Nothing stops it. Options for killing it in a Zoysia lawn?

Are you sure it’s Bahia? I’ve sprayed plenty of Bahia on the golf course with metsulfuron (msm) and it smokes it every time.
You could put down a preemergent to help with seed germination.
Also, make sure to use a surfactant if you’re using MSM Turf to target Bahia or any other weeds listed on the label and allow at least 24 hours before irrigation or rainfall.

It’s Bahia 100%….. I put some more msm turf on it today. 1 gal spot spray with surfactant. How long does it usually take? It’s been about a week since I hit it with mama turf.

Bahia makes a way better lawn than just about anything else. It’s 100% maintenance free, drought tolerant, fills gaps and holes instantly, crowds out every other weed, is wear resistant and looks great when mowed
in almost 20 years I have never watered, fertilized or applied weed killer and I have 3 acres of it at least. The rest is st aug and centipede and those areas look like shite compared to the Bahia
I think you're fighting the wrong fight LOL

I agree Bahia looks great mowed but 3 days later it looks like crap with all the stems shooting up

Yep. Even if extreme drought they bolt to seed incessantly

You sure it’s not Bermuda? MSM won’t kill Bermuda but it will smoke Bahai. I just sprayed my yard and it killed everything but the Bermuda.
I have spots of Bahai that I missed when spraying and have to go back and do. It’s very visible. Haha

Will absolutely stop it. I just took out all the Bahia in my yard 4 weeks ago with one application.
It might not be Bahia.
OP - MSM takes a couple of weeks to start really seeing it. Do a second application 4-6 weeks later if you're not seeing anything browning. Mix it to the stronger ratio for Bahia.

I'm preparing to plant a 3 acre lawn next spring. Any reason you went with Bahia instead of Bermuda? I've pretty much narrowed it down to those two. Located in northern Vermilion Parish. Any specific type of Bahia that you went with?

my property was part of a larger tract that was a dairy farm LOL. The Bahia was in the pasture (which is now my front yard).
shite is tough as nails and I ain’t lying about zero maintenance. None, nada. I think it looks great

MSM will 100% control bahiagrass. It does take a few weeks to show signs. MSM works slowly but effectively. Just be patient.

I used to have that crap in my back yard at my old house and I could swear it was just sprouting up and regrowing as my mower passed over it. It was also downright hell on my mower. I played with all kinds of speeds, deck heights, sharpened blades, different style blades and nothing worked. Granted I'm on a consumer grade ztr, but still, it was ridiculous. That crap is tough and thick.

The Scott’s Miracle Gro plant in Geismar was 5 acres of Bahia. We fertilized it a few times and the guy that mowed the lawn asked us to stop because his mower blade could only make it through one mow before he needed to sharpen it.
Msm does kill Bahia. Up your dose if needed.

Sounds like you prefer Bermuda over Bahia for larger tracts, lol. Bermuda seed can just get dang expensive. Gotta knock down the weeds with a couple rounds of non-selective herbicide fist, then run the chain harrow, then I'll seed with a ferminator and cultipack. Guess I have time to think about it some more. Not really planning on having a pristine lawn - just trying to have something to mow other than weeds.

Get some “Alle” sp? We’ve used this in the past.

“Alle sp”
It’s Ally XP. Trade name version of MSM but a good bit more expensive.
