New ceiling fan w/o blue wire for light

Old ceiling fan had blue wire for separate hot for light switch on diff circuit. New on has only hot and neutral for entire fan/light with remote control for both. Can I just cap the hot light wire from the ceiling and hook fan to the hot and neutral and run with that? Means a capped hot wire and a non-used wall switch but I can deal with that for the old fan switch. Any problems doing. That?

As long as it’s capped and taped in a box, you’re fine.
Kinda weird the fan doesn’t have ability to use a separate switch. You sure you’re not missing something there?

its there, may not be blue but they all have a separate power wire for the light
if not, then its being done internally within the remote control switching device

Yeah that’s what threw me off. It has a junction switch box with a white and black and that connects to the fan with pre made coupler. No separate blue power wire. I’m just going to cap the red from power wire out of ceiling and see how that works. Thanks!

It’s typical for a fan with a remote since the remote controls all the functions. Fans without remotes usually have separate leads for the light and fan.

Fans I bought from Costco the remote controls everything. Only 1 switch, power source, is required.

Also disconnect the red wire from the switch.

This one has a separate 1 switch for the red wire from the ceiling. The light part has a 2 way switch that is by itself. Not sure how I’d unhook the wire from the other as I think its run to a constant hot.
