On a 2000 sqfla house, what would be the approximate savings using all hardie board instead of all brick?

Brick will run you $10-$30/sq foot, Hardie costs half that, based on what I saw on Google.

Brick will last the life of the house for generations and look great throughout its lifetime. Hardie looks cheap IMO, but not cheaper than how vinyl looks.

I like the look of a good wood siding, but brick is probably the easiest choice to choose based on maintenance, longevity and resale.

This depends. My installers are about $120-140 per square of hardi. If there’s high elevations and roof jacks needed, lots of custom architectural details the price goes up from there.

Masonry is a bit more pricey, I’d say double that labor cost.

Materials are excluded here because you can use hardi which is primed (yellow color) or lower priced Nichi board (that’s grey).

Bricks vary quite a bit depending on what you like and size.

If it’s your forever home I’d go masonry, but you have to get a crew who knows what they are doing Using correct water proofing, venting, weep holes and mortar joints. Cheaper isn’t always better.

I got quoted $45,000 for my house to have all the siding redone. 1700 sq ft two story if I chose vinyl. So around $26/Sq foot. How did your installers come up with that ridiculous number? OP would be paying $240k for that price.

Don’t forget to factor in the cost of painting the Hardie and any future maintenance costs. Same goes for brick if you’re doing any special finish.

There’s also a big difference in material costs of new brick vs old brick. Special details with brick (arches, steps, patterns) also cost more.

When I built in 2018, brick was around $450/1000 and labor was around $650/1000, including details. Hardie would have been much cheaper.

That’s labor dollars per square of hardi, not square foot.

Use hardie artisan siding. Expensive but looks like wood siding

From offwhite to white? That's fine.
