Saw one of DIY outdoor chalkboards where they use hardie backer and chalkboard paint.
Anyone do anything like this?
They hung it on their fence, and went through their fence posts. That’s not ideal for my setup, so thinking about hanging on my bricks.
My questions: would I be better off drilling into the brick or the mortar? What type of bolts would I use to hang it?

Those plastic anchors would work fine for something like a chalk board. They come in several different lengths and sized for different size screws.
If I was doing it, I'd go into the mortar, put the plastic anchors into the hole and then use the appropriate screws to secure it to the brick wall.

We had one on a carport wall growing up. Humidity in BR basically rendered it useless.
