We’re building a pergola and I’ve seen some UV-resistant clear panels on Pinterest that I’m curious about. Not doing anything corrugated. Does anyone have these and/or know someone in south Louisiana who is a supplier? Most everything I see is in the Midwest or overseas and I’d love to see them in person before purchase. Thanks

if you want the cheaper option they carry them at Home Depot and you can custom order. If you want something more substantial search for greenhouse roofing panels

If it’s not yellow and cloudy in two years I’ll be shocked.

I just ordered some in clear and will do DIY, sitting in my garage at the moment. First, I’ve gotta add some shims to create the necessary slope and then paint them the same color as the pergola.

‘Cover Your Pergola’ is the company outside of Houston (looks to be a subsidiary of Regal Plastics) that I bought from and they delivered to me for $125 in Sugar Land. They might deliver via fright to Baton Rouge. SkyPoly is the product, they have the Apollo (cheaper, still good) and Hercules (standing seam, the best they offer).

I’ve done plenty of research on this. Let me know if you have any questions.

I just sent an email to them about the Hercules line. Do the pieces slide into a bracing that connects to the support beams? I saw something about aluminum or some material but I’m also worried about hurricane force winds. Our area to cover is roughly 21 x 31 so I’m worried about serious wind getting underneath that and throwing it

I consider pergolas dumb in south Louisiana. But my in-laws wanted one so I built it. I also installed tinted corrugated panels to keep the rain out and to provide some shade.

Built it in 2016. Not yellow, still in good shape. I walked on it after ida. These would be whatever lowes stocks.

I've never been able to understand the attraction of pergolas.

I looked in to getting an acrylic patio cover because the solid ones block light coming in the house. Contact these folks and they can send you information.

Acrylic Building Products

The material used is Acrylite.

We got some from Home Depot. We put them on top of a pergola at a 12° angle so water drains off. They are very easy to install

You would be correct, “clear and UV resistant” cannot exist simultaneously.

The Hercules should be better than the Apollo for handling strong winds so I think you’re headed down the right path. I went cheap with Apollo as I’ll probably be rebuilding my pergola and outdoor area in next 5 or so years, plus I have a massive tree that will likely be dropping limbs on it at some point in a storm.

For the Hercules, seams are every 24” running the width and the seam has a base that it connects into which has screws running through it every 18” or so. I cannot see a scenario where that gets destroyed by the average BR hurricane wind forces but I’m no structural engineer.

Tons of YouTube videos they put out, some more helpful than others.
