Popcorn Ceiling / Texture & Paint Timing

While I gave some time on my hands I thought I might start removing popcorn ceilings from some if the smaller rooms in my house.
My question is once I remove the popcorn is it necessary that I put up texture & paint immediately?
I would rather wait to paint everything at one time & it will be awhile before I’m ready.

There is no need to re-texture and paint either away that I’m aware of. (assuming the house has running AC)

You will have to probably float the ceiling after the popcorn texture is removed.

It depends on how well of a job was done floating before popcorn was put up. We removed popcorn from a house in Florida. After removing, all we had to do was paint ceiling.
ETA: the only issue we had was where ceiling met the wall. This is when I learned how to hang crown moulding.

You may have to skim the ceiling. Or just shoot some light texture to hide imperfections. But it can be painted whenever.

Yeah....if I’m going through all the trouble to remove popcorn and paint I’m definitely going to add crown. It’s not that much more work and you will end up with a much nicer finished look.

No, i am helping a guy whose house burned and some guys who do sheetrock for a living came over and we removed the popcorn stuff. They said to wait several days to a week and let it dry before doing anything else to it.

This is what I did and am doing. Did our half bath and laundry room myself and tried painting directly over it without floating. Didn't like how you could see some minor imperfections. Added a light knockdown texture to hide the imperfections. Turned out just fine. Also paid someone to do a large section and they recommended waiting at least 24 hours after adding texture to paint. Seems like common sense. Just removed popcorn from a spare bedroom and will shoot some texture later this week hopefully.
