I need to replace a 6ft privacy fence. How much am I looking at per linear foot?

Just for materials? That seems pretty low.

I just priced cedar (select) and the materials estimate for a standard 3 rail (2x4), 8’ fence (6’ post spacing) was over $30/ft. The fence I had sketched up was going to be >$40/ft. I will be waiting to replace my fence.

I'm around $20 building my own cedar panel fence.

Would be shocked to be lower than that with labor, even on pine. Treated pine posts are like $22 here and 2x4x8s are like 9. Its insane.

Just re-did the math and added hardware and its more like $20 without labor.

We just had some fencing replaced at $25/ft., that didn't include tear down(we did it ourselves) or cost of post(reused galvanized post from previous fence).

ETA: This was in Lafayette, company came from the Baton Rouge area to do the job.

Not sure where you are located but before the hurricanes it was ~$22/ft. Probably closer to $28-$30 now. Pine with 3 runners.

ETA: I have about 700ft of fencing I am looking at putting up. After looking at prices I am going to do the front 50ft or so of privacy then do black vinyl chain link. Not sure how much you have to fence but that may be a cost-efficient option.

How much would that be with normal lumber prices? And is that with labor?

Can't give you a dollar value, but it's high as giraffe pussy on stilts right now.

I moved into a new house a month ago and have been wanting to put a fence up, but the cost is crazy. It would be damn near $5K to put it up right now.

Must be a small yard. $5K to fence an entire yard is extremely cheap in today’s market.

That’s material only and probably in the neighborhood of 3 times higher than normal...

I have about 500 feet of fence line and wanted a couple gates. One was a large driveway swinging gate.

They quoted my almost $25k for a 6-8 foot horizontal cedar fence here in Nashville, materials and labor.

Absolutely absurd.

Doing it myself has been a bitch but its turning out pretty nice and has saved me a ton. Will add quite a bit of value for re-sale in the next couple of years too.

I built mine myself after getting quotes anywhere from $28/ft to $34.

Even with buying some tools, it cost me just over $9/ft.

Same situation but 330 ft. Total was $3k. It took a little time but so worth it. Wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.

I wouldn’t say small, but definitely not big either.

I just put in 120 ft at $4975.00

So ~ $42/ft...that includes removal, material (treated cedar and most posts), and labor

ETA The shite part of it is about a week after I paid for it I found two quotes for 400 ft of fence that I was going to put in back in 2013 or 2014 at my old house and the quotes were $14/ft and $16/ft all in ....I about shite.

Just got a quote to replace my 8ft double gate. Guy quoted me $1300, looks like I'll be doing it myself.
