PVC to brass hose spigot

I'm baffled.
I'm running 3/4" PVC water line in my backyard. I figured I would just come up out of the ground and go to an elbow that is a slip joint on one side and 3/4 in threads on the other. I would then grab a brass spigot with three quarter inch male threads to go into that PVC elbow.
Apparently, it's not that easy. The spigot gets cross threaded and it looks as though the threads don't match up. The guy I talked to at Stine said they don't match up and he had no idea how to go from PVC to a brass water spigot.
So, I went over to home Depot and pretty much got the same response from the guy there.
Anybody out there know how to go from PVC to a brass spigot? I know there has to be a way....
Please help! I have four of these that I'm doing

Yes. You can go straight to a hose bib on pvc. I do it often. The threads match. All NPT threads. Don’t ever listen to Stine, HD, Lowe’s employees. Also, never use Teflon tape on metal to plastic threads. Use pipe dope. The Teflon will cause either the adapter to crack or cross thread the metal. FYI.

Almost. What he really wants is pipe thread sealant, specifically one rated for PVC fittings like #5 Rectorseal or Tru-blu. Do not use a pipe dope that is bulked with shredded or ground teflon fibers, basically anything that isn't a very fine paste is what you want to avoid. Teflon tape/dope is more to lubricate metal fittings so they can be properly torqued enough and you are not likely to have the muscle to bust those fittings. Lubricating PVC pipe threads makes it easy to over torque and break them. With DVW threaded plugs I'll use silicone grease though.

Why don’t you just glue it with weld on? I’m a plumber apprentice and always use glue for pvc to brass connections. You have to let it set for 15 minutes, but I’ve never had a problem doing it that way.

I haven’t heard anyone use apprentice in a long time. Good for you man. Learn it right, get your Master Plumbers license and as long as you are willing to work you will make a great living. I know some very well off Plumbers.
Best of luck. Good Plumbers are hard to find.

I’ve plumbed for many years-I’ve always used old school yellow Rectorseal. I’ve never glued the pvc to brass. But-if it works for you-good deal. Glad to hear you’re an apprentice. We need good tradesmen in the field. Stay in your plumber’s back pocket with everything. Ask questions often.

a 3/4" PVC female adapter should work OP. I'm no plumber, but I am a former HD employee
Like the guys above said, don't listen to jackasses like me. Quite certain they thread up just fine. Pipe thread is pipe thread.

Absolutely not, I dont know what jack leg plumbers you work with but that is the most rat advice I've ever heard. If that is what your journeyman is teaching you ask for a new one, that guy is a bum.
A 3/4 npt brass hose bib will thread into a 3/4 PVC female npt . The casting in the brassor female adpt. may be bad or user error. The way you were trying to do it was the correct way.

The pvc you put primer on it to get a good bond with the glue, how is the glue bonding to a metal such as brass??

Not a plumber but I have run a few PVC water lines and never had a problem connecting a threaded metal hose bib to a PVC fitting.
