Recommend Christmas lights and how to hang

I’m going to do Christmas lights on the exterior of my house this year. I have some metal roof and some shingles. Where is the best place to buy lights and what is best to use to hang them with no nails or screws.
I have my house wired with outlets on all my eaves that tie into a switch in my laundry room so I don’t really need a timer or any special plugs.

Are you wanting them to line the edges of your roof or do something Griswold style?

Just line the edges of my roof. Maybe line up and down my columns in the front porch.

Home Depot and Lowe’s sell plastic clips that slide underneath the shingles to come to the edge of your roof and you can space them out based on your bulbs, but you definitely want to go for the bigger bulbs which are designed for roofs.
If you have pillars, you can wrap them around but it can take a while and a ton of patience to be sure that it looks right. We have columns also, but instead of lights we go to Hobby lobby and buy some velvet ribbon and wrap it around the pillars to look like a candy cane

Thanks...I wasn’t sure what bulbs. I like the velvet idea but my columns are stained cypress 10x10. Will that look good on those also? Ive seen it on the white ones for sure.

C9 bulbs are the standard for roof line edging

If you want to go down a rabbit hole, check out the permanent lights thread over on the tech board, or watch some youtube videos about permanent holiday lights.

I line my roofline and garage and door and windows in classic C9 bulbs. Not the clear LED looking ones but the ceramic? solid old school ones.
Freaking love it.

If you want colored lights Costco had some 50 light C9 strands for cheap. Maybe $10 or so.
