Replastering pool

I’ve been getting some quotes to have my pool replastered. I’ve done some research on regular plaster and Diamond Brite. Seems there are pluses and minuses on both.
Seeing what opinions I can find here. Appreciate any information.

Can you elaborate? I'm considering the same. The plaster is fine....except for a few discolorations/stains. Wondering what the cost might be and whether that will eventually lead to changing tile and maybe coping (which is what usually happens to me when i entertain small projects).

Biggest difference is durability. Diamond Brite will last about twice as long as marbleized plaster, depending on pool care, of course. Here in Houston, I can get Diamond Brite for just a few dollars more than white plaster, so I like that value. I suppose it is personal preference with regard to looks and what your budget looks like.

regular plaster and Diamond Brite.
When you say regular, do you mean plain white marble based and Diamond Brite quartz because it exposes a little aggregate? I've had French Gray Diamond Brite on a personal pool 15 plus years now with no problems. When not specifying a pebbletec finish, I spec a Diamond Brite plaster on residential pools.

My concern is that I’ve heard Diamond Brite is a rougher finish. Has anyone had any opinions on this.
The up charge is about $1,600 to go up to Diamond Brite.
Does anyone know if there is a real difference on life expectancies in the two.
Again appreciate any responses.

Diamond Britte is going to be rougher than plain white plaster when they are both brand new. DiB will feel the same for years. I do not know how long White will last before it pits?
I have midnight blue DB plaster. I will tell you that the darker you go and the larger your pool, the higher the probability to certainty that the color will streak.

Diamond Brite is only a minimal rougher finish only because it's has a small quartz aggregate added to (regular plaster) unlike regular plaster nothing but dust particles. More aggregate exposed less chance water chemistry can break down the plaster which prolongs life. It all comes down to the applicator and how you maintain the water but from what Iv'e seen, DB is going to last twice as long all things equal. IMO, $1600 doesn't seem like a big upcharge for something that has potentially a longer life and looks better.
Again, only my opinion and experinece.

We had the Diamond Brite put in ours two years ago, and added crushed pearl oyster shell in it and it looks fantastic.

The standard marcite is susceptible to staining (fertilizer and garden soil do a number), Diamond Brite is better but IMHO PebbleTec is the best.
If you are doing RE-work and plan on staying in your house for a while I’d go with Diamond Brite or PebbleTec.
