I currently use a Scotts Speedy Green 3000 broadcast spreader on my 0.5 acre lot. I am looking to possibly buy a new spreader that attaches to my riding mower. Any recs or just buy another walk behind spreader?
Lowe's has this tow behind spreader on clearance.

Not sure how much you’re looking to spread but I like the Earthway nylon bag. Use it for around the house and small food plots at the camp. Cheap too.

I recently needed to replace my Scott’s spreader that finally broke after hitting a rut.
I decided I wanted something a little heavier duty. I settled in the Agri-Fab 45-0462. Cost/quality wise it’s in-between homeowner and profession grade. It ain’t cheap ($170) but it goes over uneven ground great and does a quick job. They also have the same spreader in a pull behind for about the same price. They can hold 130 lbs of material.
Be prepared to spend an hour to assemble.

I also picked up an Agri-Fab spreader. It’s great and seems to work very well.
However, I have a 4 acre property. 1/2 Acre is not really something you’ll need a tow behind. They are a little more difficult to use. You have to “calibrate” them a little more than a typical Scott’s spreader. I also made a mistake of accidentally leaving the lever “open” when I stopped for a few seconds (pull on my ATV and it’s harder to reach the lever). Fertilizer poured out and onto my turf burning a spot that took all year to fill in.
I still use my walk behind for about an acre around the house. I just don’t have enough turf yet for the tow behind to really be easy to use (long straight runs).
