Looking for some input on how much fixing this is going to cost. Long story short, the fence was being replace and the retaining wall got all messed up. The concrete on the high side was probably poured 2 years ago. One guy came out and quoted $15k but that included a new fence as well. It's a 40 ft long run. In Shreveport.

Looks more like a DIY project to shore up and back fill for under $1000.

I was wondering the same. It’s at my mom’s house in Shreveport and I don’t live nearby, so I haven’t been able to see it in person.

It looks like someone was trying to raise the level of the whole yard. That will change the natural drainage patterns and that could get you in trouble.

Raised when the house was originally built? Nothing has been raised or lowered since. The backside was ripped out when replacing the fence. We are worried about the concrete patio area on the backside of the fence being supported.

That sucks, because it is a DYI project, but not a short one. Cinder blocks and concrete are cheap but that is a couple of weekends of hard work. Good Luck.

8" CMU - 3$ x 40ftx3ft tall = 90$
5 bags of mortar x 8$ a bag= 40$

You are going to get some eff you pricing here. All of the high side has to be hand dug the depth of the wall and 1-2' in front of the wall. That's a whole day of digging for, 1/2 day to lay block, 1/2 day to put dirt back.

Anyone with a decent handyman business ain't going to want to work that hard when they can go swap out light fixtures and install garbage disposals in the A/C for 150/hr.

Best bet is to pay some home depot Mexicans to do the digging for you. 200/day
